Location: Washington DC Area (primarily Springfield & Falls Church Virginia) + part time remote
Job Summary
We are seeking a talented and experienced Cyber Engineer to join our team and contribute to the secure implementation, authorization and management of Department of Defense program. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining a cybersecure system, coupling DevSecOps experience with Cybersecurity authorization expertise.
Job Description and Required Skills
- Responsible for safeguarding information systems assets by identifying and solving potential and actual security problems
- Continuous monitoring live cyber environments for potential attacks, vulnerabilities, and log analysis
- Knowledge and hands-on experience in developing and implementing security into infrastructure, platforms, and software
- Development of cybersecurity architecture with ability to adapt quickly to evolving requirements
- Responsible to initiate, maintain and improve a platform Authority to Operate in cloud environments, and have hands-on experience in Risk Management Framework (RMF) security assessments
- Participate in incident response activities, investigate security breaches, and implement corrective actions.
- Work closely with development teams to ensure secure integration of new or upgraded applications, plugins, and libraries within the platform.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
- Clearly document assessments and processes
- Effectively communicate the outcomes of assessments to leadership
- Interaction with customers and government officials at all levels
- Knowledge and hands on experience with agile and DevSecOps methodologies
- Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash) for automating security tasks and developing security tools.
- Hands-on experience with security assessment tools like penetration testing frameworks, vulnerability scanners, and log analysis tools.
- Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and their native security services for Kubernetes.
- Experience hardening Kubernetes and containers
- Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
Desired Skills:
- Experience with AWS, Azure, NextGen Security Products, network vulnerability scanning platforms
- Certified Cloud Security Professional (CSSP)
- 2+ years’ experience with container technologies such as Docker or Kubernetes
- XACTA and EMASS experience
- Specific knowledge of NIST RMF 800-53 control
Education Requirements:
- B.S. in Computer Science, Mathematics, or equivalent technical degree, with concentrations/focus in security or equivalent and four years minimum experience OR a minimum of six years of enterprise security assessment experience
Salary Range:
- $158,000 – $189,000
